Penzance Street Pastors

Get Involved

May 2013

Just one year ago, the small committee were planning an open evening – to see if we could recruit enough volunteers for CTIPA to support Street Pastors for Penzance. In July 2012 we had 24 volunteers showing interest and the recruitment and vetting process began – following by a pretty intensive three months of training.

We were looking for enthusiastic people that have a heart to impact our town and are willing to give at least one night a month to be out on the streets assisting and listening to those that frequent our town centre.

We had the greatest bunch of people coming forward – who committed to the project their time and enthusiasm.    16 Street Pastors and 8 prayer pastors – so we have teams of 6 on every four weeks.   2 prayer pastors at base and 4 Street Pastors out in Penzance – engaging with the night time community.

We are looking for more people to become involved in this great Christian night-life initiative.
Your church does not have to be a member of CTIPA for you to join us.
Come and observe part or all of a shift to find out more.

Our aim:  to draw alongside the community, showing them we care, to be an ear when it seems no one else is listening and to offer our hands when there is no one else around to help. We do not have all the answers but as Christians we want to actively play our role in seeing our city become a more peaceful environment, by meeting people where they are at.

Volunteer Criteria

Over 18,  a committed member of a local Church (which does not have to be a member of CTIPA);  able to give one night a month; team player and a good listener.
